On November 20, 2019, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region received a cheque for $34,293.94 from the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) on behalf of their members.
The funds were raised at KWAR’s 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Rebel Creek Golf Club.
Brian Santos, President of KWAR, and Megan Bell, Golf Tournament Co-Chair, presented the cheque to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region representatives Janine Armstrong, Director of Community Outreach, and Karen Coviello, Chief Executive Officer.
Established in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region (HFHWR) is a charitable organization working toward a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
“As REALTORS®, we see the importance of homeownership every day with our clients,” says Brian Santos, KWAR President. “Unfortunately for many in our community, this dream is further out of reach, and those are who Habitat for Humanity serve”.
For the past 30 years, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region has been able to help more than 143 families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Local REALTORS® understand the pride that comes with owning a home.
“Supporting Habitat for Humanity and their model of providing lower-income, working families the opportunity to purchase their own Habitat home is a natural fit for us,” says Santos.
This year’s tournament was the most successful in terms of total funds raised. 106 golfers participated in the tournament, along with the support of many sponsors. KWAR wishes to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, individual hole sponsors and prize donors who made this tournament such a success!
