Three days. Two countries. Twelve hundred kilometers. One common goal – REALTORS® raising money for shelter-based organizations. From July 18-20, 2007, the Ontario Real Estate Association’s second annual Ride for Charity: Dash for Cash – Quebec, in support of the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation took place and, despite some rain showers, the event was considered a total success.
Thirty-two riders and passengers revved up and left Toronto heading for Lake Placid, New York. After spending the night in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains the group then traveled the 310 kilometers to New Hampshire and then from New Hampshire they went to their final destination, Quebec City.
Frequent stops were made along the way to enjoy the sites and, to occasionally pick up a cheque in support of the cause. The Quinte & District Real Estate Board were pleased to present OREA Northeastern Regional Director Richard Hawkins a cheque for $500 in support of his participation in the Ride for Charity. In total, close to $23,000 has been collected from the Ride for Charity.
All proceeds raised went to the OREA Foundation, which began in 1978. In 29 years, the Foundation has granted more than $2 million on behalf of Ontario REALTORS® to shelter-based organizations across Ontario.
