The REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) is proud to announce that its Board of Directors has approved a donation of $1,000 to help send a little reminder of home to Canadian troops in Afghanistan this holiday season. In conjunction with other Ontario real estate Boards, the Association hopes to send a $5 Tim Horton’s gift certificate to each person serving in Afghanistan on behalf of Canadian REALTORS®.
“What better way for those who live in the community where the first Tim Horton’s was built to say thanks?” added Herron. “And what could be more Canadian than a Tim Horton’s coffee and donut?”
The Renfrew County Real Estate Board began the initiative as their way of saying thanks and they issued a challenge to other Ontario Boards through the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA). RAHB’s Board of Directors wanted to show the troops that the Association also appreciates their sacrifices; therefore, they accepted the challenge. In eagerness the goal is reached, RAHB also presented its members the opportunity to donate.
“Our community lost one of its own not too long ago; therefore, this initiative sits close to all of our hearts,” said Gary Herron, RAHB President. “I encourage every member to get involved regardless of their political thoughts. This is about supporting people, not politics.”
RAHB, the Renfrew County Real Estate Board, and other participating Boards need to raise $15,000.00 to provide this gift. A notice from OREA will be included with the gift certificates informing the troops who provided the donation.
