Shayne Hanna, REALTOR® with Sutton Group – Right Way Real Estate (2007) Inc.*, will participate in the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes® on Saturday, September 19, 2009. This is an event that asks men to literally walk a mile in women’s high heel shoes. The purpose of this march is to encourage the community to come together to raise money for the Women’s Emergency Centre – Sexual Assault Program. It also promotes awareness about this difficult and sometimes uneasy topic.
Not only has Shayne participated in the march for the last three years but he has played an integral role in the event. He has been an active committee member, organizing and walking each year since its inception in his community. Shayne is an advocate for this cause and explains, “Violence not only affects women but men too. The walk gives men the opportunity to support women and speak up against violence.”
This year’s festivities will take place at the Southside Park Boathouse in Woodstock beginning at 10am. Women and children are welcome too; there will be entertainment and door prizes for everyone to enjoy. 80 participants raised over $7,800 last year. Shayne suggests, “Our goal this year is to meet or exceed this amount.”
