For several years, The Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® Inc. has been supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District as the Title Sponsor of the Showcase of Homes Tour and this was no exception on September 15, 2012.
The event takes place annually in September and many of the REALTORS® volunteer in the homes on the tour day. Their generous gift of time and funds ensure the success of the fundraising event and the partnership that has flourished between the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District and The Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® Inc. for well over two decades now.
This year’s Tour previewed eight fabulous homes throughout Barrie and area. The Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® Inc. and its members have assisted in the selection of a wide variety of home styles, from century homes to newly built homes, for the showcase. The self-guided tour originated in 1991 and is a popular community event. Over 400 visitors attended the tour this year raising $22,000 in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District.
“We rely solely on community donations and sponsorships to provide mentoring programs at no charge to the families that need them,” says Marianne Arbour of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District. “The Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® Inc. has helped us provide caring adult mentors to hundreds of children ages 6-18 in our community, for over 21 years. Many of the REALTORS® participate every March in our Bowl for Kids Sake Campaign. Over 100 REALTORS® came out to bowl in the REALTORS®‘ Challenge and helped raise approximately $10,000.00 at this event for our organization.”
