In brainstorming a fundraising event for her upcoming participation in the Machu Picchu Challenge for Shelter, Trish Condo of Royal LePage RCR Realty in Bolton, Ontario, was drawn to her love of jazz and desire to one day visit the city of New Orleans.
Her Mardi Gras Soriee benefitting Family Transition Place featured a live performance by Tyler Yarema & His Rhythm along with beads, face painting, masks, and games. A King & Queen of the evening were crowned, selected by their spirit in showing up in full costumes. In a touching nod to the cause behind the festivities, guests were encouraged to write words of encouragement and support on a large poster to be later displayed at the shelter.
Condo was incredibly touched by the generosity of her supporters who raised nearly $3,000. “I’m so grateful to be surrounded by people in my life and in my community who care, volunteer and give back to local causes. They will all be in my heart when I reach Machu Picchu.”
Participants of the Machu Picchu Challenge for Shelter will be trekking to the lost city of Machu Picchu, Peru in August, 2015. Trekkers from Royal LePage offices across Canada must raise $5,000 each for their local shelter and cover their own travel costs.
