The golfers assembled and the weather cooperated.all in the name of charity. On June 20, the beautiful Fox Glen Golf Club played host to 96 participants at the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
The theme of this year’s tournament was “Take the GOLF Course of Action for Charity” and the event raised more than $9,000.
One-third of the money raised went to the Care for the Kids Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of children in Windsor-Essex County. Since 1997, Windsor and Essex Care For Kids has raised more than $2 million in support of equipment for paediaric programs and services at Hôtel-Dieu Grace, Leamington District Memorial and Windsor Regional hospitals.
Another $3,000 went to the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society. The society has been promoting responsible pet ownership, compassion for all living things and a commitment to be involved and make a difference. Their present facility remains one of the largest in South Western Ontario and the shelter is also the centre for animal control in the City of Windsor.
The remaining $3,000 was divided up amongst other various charities and local project in the community.
Through the support of many sponsors – both local and national – and with the help of the volunteers of the benefiting organizations, “Take the GOLF Course of Action for Charity” was a great success.
