2008 marked the 20th anniversary of the Saskatoon Region Association of REALTORS® member support for the Denny Carr Secret Santa Campaign. REALTORS® across North America are supporters of Home and Family. For most of us, we can’t imagine our children going without presents at Christmas time.
Unfortunately that is not the case for many kids in Saskatoon. But thanks to Denny Carr’s vision and compassion for kids, the Denny Carr Secret Santa campaign was formed.
Denny Carr’s vision was for every child in Saskatoon to have a least one present under the Christmas tree. This vision has been fulfilled due to the generous giving of the Citizens of Saskatoon.
Saskatoon REALTORS® got on the bandwagon in 1988 and have increased their participation each and every year and 2008 is no exception donating $6,615 to the campaign. Over the past 10 years, SRAR members have donated $45,929.
For the last three years, the SRAR Commercial Division has raised additional money for Secret Santa through their special and now annual Christmas luncheon.
In 1999, when Denny Carr passed away, a number of his colleagues wanted to continue Denny’s legacy and, as a result, the Denny Carr Secret Santa foundation was formed.
The program operates with the assistance of the Salvation Army who provide the names of needy families and now not only do these families receive presents but also Christmas dinner. Saskatoon REALTORS® will continue their support in 2009.
