On August 22, 2012, the Yorkton & District Council of REALTORS®—a Regional Council of the Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc.—hosted the 4th Annual Yorkton & District Council Golf Classic. It was a great day of golf, socializing, networking, and raising money for a great cause. With this year’s event, the Council raised a total of $14,000 for the Yorkton Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
How’d they do it? “There are a number of reasons for the success of our tournament, but the main one is probably the great support we get from REALTORS® and related industries alike from all over Saskatchewan,” explains Len Wassill, REALTOR® and Chairperson of the charity event. “We all give back to our communities, in one way or another every single day, but here is the one example that we do collectively as a group in our area every year. We already look forward to next year—our 5th annual.”
Habitat for Humanity is a perfect fit as the charity of choice for the Council. “The local chapter of Habitat for Humanity is a very strong group and working with them has been a pleasure,” says Len.
